New comics infest the shelves this Wednesday, January 25

Last year, IDW brought together several of its worlds and characters together for a zombie battle across the multiverse! And they are at it again with the release of this week's Infestation 2 #1 by writer Duane Swierczynski and artist David Messina. From across time and space, Lovecraftian demons come to destroy everything and everyone in their way. Let's hope that an amazing collection of heroes can stop them before it is too late. Who you ask? How about The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Transformer, GI Joes, heroes from Dungeons & Dragons, and ... the Bat Boy? Like the first one, Infestation 2 promises to be a fun read packed with a lot of unexpected guest stars!

IDW also has the second of two new ongoing Transformers books starting this week. Transformers: Robots in Disguise #1 picks up with the Autobots now in charge of a Cybertron, still reeling from the recent war. And with Optimus Prime gone, Bumblebee and the others must try to maintain some type of order in this new world. Writer John Barber and artist Andrew Griffith bring readers all of the hard hitting action in this new series.

Some DC New 52 readers may have thought they missed Justice League #5 last week, but they don't need to worry because DC was a little bit late getting it out of the door. However, it is here this Wednesday along with all of the other fourth week New 52 titles everyone is looking forward to, like Aquaman #5, Batman: The Dark Knight #5, Superman #5, and more! Also, keep an eye out for the fourth issue of the Legion: Secret Origin limited series .

Marvel has several great titles on the shelves. New and old readers should take a look at Deadpool #49.1 (The Musical!) and Secret Avengers #21.1, which are designed to introduce the books to those unfamiliar to the series while still offering a fun story for regular readers. Other great titles this week are Fantastic Four #602, FF #14, The Mighty Thor #10, Ultimate Comics Ultimates #6, and more!

In the early 90s, Rob Liefeld introduced the character Prophet in Youngblood #2, and now, in 2012, Prophet returns thanks to Liefeld's Extreme Studio returning under the Image imprint. Writer Brandon Graham and artist Simon Roy have been given the reigns and creative freedom with this week's issue Prophet #21. Readers shouldn't be put off by the issue number because this is designed to be a starting point for new and old readers. Follow soldier John Prophet as he wakes from cryosleep to find that an alien race has settled the Earth, and humans have devolved into ape-men that serve as the new rulers' food source. Prohpet's mission? Restore the human empire!

Marvel has several great titles coming out this week. Here are a few highlights to watch for: Avenging Spider-Man #3, Amazing Spider-Man #678, Uncanny X-Force #20, and Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #6.

The Scarlet Spider returns this Wednesday, January 11

Batman enters a twisted Wonderland in the new, hardcover, original graphic novel Batman: Through The Looking Glass. Writer Bruce Jones and artist Sam Kieth take readers on a fantastic journey as Batman encounters The Mad Hatter for the first time and is transported to a Wonderland beyond his imagination. Alfred and Robin believe The Dark Knight is delirious, but if that's the case, how is he able to solve Gotham mysteries that have haunted the city for years? Marvel's X-fans have several books to look forward to this week! First up, Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert present Wolverine #300! An all-new Wolverine story starts in this extra-sized issue. Kick 2012 off with new comics this Wednesday, January 4

Happy New Year! Last year brought a lot of changes to the DC Universe, and Marvel shook things up in Fear Itself and Schism. In 2012, readers can look forward to seeing the new DCU evolve and Marvel's next big event, Avengers vs. X-Men. And let's not forget the other publishers! In fact, take a look at this week's newest title from Image!

Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, the creative team behind the acclaimed Criminal and Incognito series, bring their unique talent for the noir to their new book Fatale. In Brubaker and Phillips' new series, they combine their penchant for crime fiction with Lovecraftian horror. When a reporter named Nicolas Lash meets a strange woman named Jo at his godfather's funeral, his whole world changes before he even knows it. Lash quickly becomes involved in a plot involving an immortal demon and a struggle that has gone on for decades. Fans of crime or horror fiction will want to check this great new book out. For the Lovecraft fans, a short essay by Jess Nevins discussing Lovecraft's pioneering of the cosmic horror genre is also included in the first issue.

Cable's quest to destroy the Avengers continues in Avengers: X-Sanction #2! After dealing with Captain America, Cable goes toe-to-toe with Iron Man! This all leads up to Marvel's big Avengers vs. X-Men event! Also on shelves, the Avengers Annual #1 finds Simon Williams and his Revengers going after the Avengers; those heroes can not get a break. The X-Men have their fair share of titles as well. Look for Uncanny X-Men #4, X-23 #20, X-Club #2, X-Men #23, and Uncanny X-Force #19.1, which is a great jumping on point for anyone interested in checking out one of the hottest X-titles out there.

For the young and young at heart, the Peanuts return in the first issue of their new monthly series from KABOOM! While the book does collect some classic Sunday strips, the issue also premieres an all-new story starring Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of gang!

This is the first week of a new month, so readers can look forward to the fifth issues of their favorite DC New 52 titles. A couple of miniseries continue as well, including Huntress #4 and IDW & DC's crossover book Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes #4!

In the late 90s, DC halted printing on the Elseworlds 80-Page Giant and pulped any that had already been printed. Flash forward twelve years, and DC has brought back the long sought after "lost" book as DC Comics Presents Elseworlds 80-Page Giant! This fresh printing contains the 'controversial' Letitia Lerner, Superman's Babysitter, the Birds of Prey comic strip, a Kingdom Come parody, Superman Jr. Is No More!, and much more. This is a great book that any DC fan should check out.

IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Series #2, Michelangelo continues the new mini-series and focuses on the wise-cracking Mikey! The holidays are in full swing in New York, so Michelangelo sets out to explore the city and take everything in. His journey will make him new friends, enemies, and shed light on new clues to some of the on-going series' mysteries. Don't miss this attitude packed issue.

The doctor is in! Image Comic's Witch Doctor: Resuscitation One-Shot hits shelves and brings fans an all new adventure staring Dr. Morrow and friends. When someone wakes up in a bathtub full of ice and an incision on his side, something is usually missing. However, in this odd case, a kidney has been added! This sounds like a job for the Witch Doctor, and sure enough, black magic soon rears its ugly head! If you missed the Witch Doctor mini-series, make sure to check out the recently released trade paperback. You will not regret it.

The hit web series The Guild returns to store shelves with the new one-shot The Guild: Zaboo, co-written by the show's creator and star Felicia Day and costar Sandeep Parikh! Zaboo's love of Codex, Cyd's in-game avatar, is put to the test when he senses danger in Cyd's future. He must escape the clutches of his mother and prove he is Cyd's real-life knight in shining armor.

Incorporate some new comics into your collection this Wednesday, December 21

Before the big DC relaunch, Grant Morrison brought about one of the biggest changes to the Bat family: Batman Incorporated! Spinning directly out of the last series, the Batman Incorporated: Leviathan Strikes one-shot finds Batman outwitted by the Leviathan, and with Bruce no longer sure of his adversary's true identity, he finds himself unprepared for what will come next. Who is the Leviathan? A familiar face back to settle the score or a new face in crime? Grant Morrison is back on writing duties for this issue with art by Cameron Stewart and Chris Burnham. Will you be prepared for the shocking ending?

IDW is celebrating 125 issues of their Transformer comics, and what better way to celebrate than taking the book in new directions! After Chaos, the fate of Optimus Prime was left a mystery, but in Transformers: Death of Optimus Prime, all will be revealed. In a place unknown to him, Optimus sits in contemplation. The battle cost him dearly, and his ability to carry own is called into question. After this issue, things will never be the same for the Autobots and their leader. A couple of other notable IDW books out this week are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #5 and Dungeons & Dragons: Drizzt #4!

Marvel's mutant fans will love this week! Wolverine and the X-Men #3 continues the new Institute's first day, which has not be good to say the least. Uncanny X-Force #19 finds the team still recovering from last week's conclusion of the Dark Angel Saga and a new and exciting member joins the group! Writer/artist Joe Benitez's beloved series Lady Mechanika returns with the long awaited third issue of this steampunk adventure. Lady Mechanika continues her search for the 'Mechanical Girl' and finds herself aboard Lord Blackpool's airship during a masquerade ball. While Blackpool wows his guests with his latest weapons, Mechanika makes a discovery that could lead to information on her own creation.

Cable returns this Wednesday, December 14

Last week, Marvel announced Avengers vs X-Men, which they are calling their "biggest event in comic book history!" But you won't have to wait until next April to see the opening salvo. This Wednesday, the superstar team of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness kick everything off in Avengers: X-Sanction #1! Presumed dead after the events of X-Men: Second Coming, Cable returns to the present with one deadly mission: to save the world, he must kill the Avengers! First on his list is Captain America, and only one will be able to walk away. Don't miss the return of Cable and the lead in to next year's big event!

Also from Marvel this week, the critically acclaimed team of Zeb Wells and Clayton Crain brings everyone's favorite red and black symbiote that they love to hate back in Carnage USA #1! After the events of their Carnage (2011) series, Cletus Kasady has returned as Carnage, and he plans to continue his deadly rampage. Spider-Man and the Avengers will have to hunt Carnage down before he one small town in America's heartland pays the ultimate price.

Have you been waiting to get into the new DC 52 until you can find all of the first issues in one place? Well, you are in luck! On sale this Tuesday (that's right, a whole day earlier than the other books!), the DC Comics: The New 52 HC collects all of the first issues from the recent relaunch. This great collection, which also makes an awesome gift, weighs in at over 1,000 pages of action packed stories! DC has another new mini-series this week by Justin Gray and Rich Perrotta: Ray #1. Lucian Gates is transformed into the all-new Ray after being struck by a beam of energy, and his life will never be the same. His city is in luck, however, because its new protector is just what it needs when giant monsters attack from out of nowhere!

Dark Horse Comics presents the Star Wars' universe's very own James Bond in Star Wars: Agent of the Empire, Iron Eclipse #1 by John Ostrander and Stéphane Roux. His name is Cross. Jahan Cross. He is the Empire's newest secret agent. With the assistance of his droid IN-GA 44, Cross must travel to the Corporate Sector and track down some stolen droid technology, where he is sure to make a lot of people not so happy.

Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan's vampire novel The Strain has entered the world of comics in the Dark Horse adaptation by Daniel Lapham and Mike Huddleston. When a plane lands at the JFK International Airport and goes dark on the runway, the CDC is called in to investigate. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of biological-threat first responders are on the scene, but one elderly man suspects darker more ancient threat.

Robert Kirkman's epic continues in The Walking Dead TP Vol. 15, collecting issues #85-90. Also, don't miss The Walking Dead #92 out this week as well.

Feeling like an outsider, even among his family, Raphael is having trouble finding his place until he meets another mutant by the name of Alopex. She may have new information regarding the Turtles' origin, but Raphael will have to help her (and himself) survive the night as Alopex is hunted alive! The other three Turtles will be the stars of their very own one-shots to come later.

The effects of Marvel's Fear Itself are still being felt, and the final Worthy continue their rampage! One group will stand against them. They are the Defenders! Written by Matt Fraction and art by Terry Dodson, Defenders #1 brings together The Silver Surfer, Doctor Strange, Red She-Hulk, Immortal Iron Fist, and Namor to reveal the truth behind a conspiracy that reaches to the very core of the Marvel Universe!

Ever since Schism, mutants have not had the best reputation (and it wasn't very good before that), but the X-Men's Science Team plans to change that... with SCIENCE, of course! In X-Club #1, Dr. Nemesis, Madison Jeffries, Kavita Rao, and Danger's gesture a goodwill to humanity, a space elevator, is near completion when all heck breaks loose, casting mutants in a bad light once again. Let's hope they can science their way out of this one. Some other X-titles to look out for this week are X-Factor #228, X-Men #22, and X-23 # 18.

In the mid-80s, the Voltron Force started their epic battle against King Zarkon! Now, Dynamite Entertainment presents Voltron #1 by Brandon Thomas and Ariel Padilla, and the Force has never been as close to victory over Zarkon as they are now. However, Zarkon has a secret about Voltron that could change everything. This new series re-defines and re-imagines what everyone knows about Voltron and is great for new and old fans.

Marvel has several great reads this week. Even though Fantastic Four #600 hit shelves last week, the Future Foundation continues towards its goal of saving humanity in FF #12 by Jonathan Hickman and artist Juan Bobillo. Running parallel to Fantastic Four's "Forever" storyline, "All Hope Lies In Doom" kicks off a four-part story arc that reveals how the Foundation and Doctor Doom plan to save the world. Averngers Origins: Thor #1 is the last issue of the Origins one-shots that have run through the month of November and focuses on fans' favorite Asgardian in his pursuit of godhood and humility. Marvel readers also have Uncanny X-Men #2, Wolverine #19, and X-Men Legacy #259 to look forward to this week, among other great titles!

DC's critically acclaimed THUNDER Agents return with a new first issue by Nick Spencer and Craig Wesley that offers new readers a great jumping on point. Would you willingly become a Super Hero if you knew the power would eventually kill you? The members of this team did, and this book aims to explore why they would make this deadly decision. The Legion: Secret Origins #2 and Batman: Odyssey #2 miniseries are also out! For the all-ages crowd, DC presents Green Lantern: The Animated Series #0, which will lead in to the upcoming monthly series! While patrolling, Hal Jordon and Kilowog find a green power ring abandoned in space, but where did it comes from?

Robert Kirkman and Greg Capullo pass the torch of Image's Haunt series on to Joe Casey and Nathan Fox this week with the release of issue 19. The new team plans to take the book in a bold new direction, so this issue is a great jumping on point. Daniel and Kurt Kilgore have shared their strange power ever sense Kurt's death, but now their lives become even more complicated when something from the past comes back to haunt them. If you end up enjoying the book, early issues of the series are collected in trade paperbacks.

Zoey Redbird is just like any other sixteen year old student, but everything changes when Zoey is marked as a vampyre! Now, she must enroll in the vampyre academy House of Night and adapt to an entirely new social hierarchy. Oh yeah, there is that whole craving blood thing that she also has to deal with. Fans of Harry Potter or the original House of Night book series will want to give this comic adaptation a try.

Wolverine, the Force, the future, and more in new comics this Wednesday, October 26

The dust has settled, and the X-Men have chosen their sides. This week, Wolverine and his team are moving back into the Xavier Institute in Wolverine & The X-Men #1, written by Jason Aaron with art by Chris Bachalo. Spinning directly out of X-Men Schism, Wolverine and his crew--including readers' favorites like Beast, Kitty Pryde, Iceman, and more--return to Westchester in attempt to make the X-Men what the once were: a place for young mutants to grow and learn. However, the newly reformed Hellfire Club won't make life easy for the group. This double-sized first issue is the perfect place for new or returning readers to get into the X-Men! Also, Astonishing X-Men #43 and New Mutants #32 will be on shelves when we open this Wednesday.

A long time ago in a comic shop not too far, far away, Dark Horse Comics told the tale of the Emperor's last Imperial Guard in Star Wars Crimson Empire. This Wednesday, Kir Kanos's adventure in Star Wars: Crimson Empire III, Empire Lost #1 by original writer Mike Richardson and artist Paul Gulacy. The New Republic grows in strength, but the galaxy is not yet safe. Marvel's arrowed adventurer headlines the new mini-series Avengers Solo #1 by writers Jen Van Meter and Jim McCann with art by Roger Robinson. Hawkeye is pulled into a murderous conspiracy when a dead body of a stranger appears on the Avenger's doorstep. Thanks to The Trapster, Hawkeye is going to have a hard time making it out of this one. Legion Secret Origin #1 is DC Comic's latest mini-series set in the newly relaunched universe. A new era of X-Men begins this Wednesday, October 12

The X-Men will never be the same after the events of last week's conclusion to X-Men Schism. A family is divided, and everyone must choose who they will side with. In this week's X-Men Regenesis #1. writer Kieron Gillen and artist Billy Tan set the stage for the two new upcoming X-titles, Wolerine & The X-Men #1 and Uncanny X-Men #1. Every X-Man much choose their destiny: Wolverine or Cyclopes. No matter who they choose, things will never be the same. X-fans will also be happy to know that Uncanny X-Force #16, X-Men Legacy #257, and Generation Hope #12 will also be out.

DC fans have a lot of great books to look forward to this week. Fan's of James Robinson's Starman series may remember an antihero by the name of Shade; this week, Robinson and artist Cully Hamner bring the character back in Shade #1, a new 12-issues series. Shade's true origin is finally revealed when an attack on the Starman museum sends him on a journey around the world and through time that will change him forever. Then, My Greatest Adventure #1 brings readers the continuing adventures of Garbage Man and Tanga from the Weird Worlds series, but this time Robotman, a Las Vegas P.I., is along for the ride. September was a great month for comic book fans, and October plans to keep the hits coming! First up, we have Howard Chaykin writing and drawing Avengers 1959 #1 for Marvel! Spinning out of New Avengers, 1959 follows the continuing adventures of Nick Fury and his unlikely Avengers-Dominic Fortune, Kraven the Hunter, Namora, Sabertooth, Ulysses Bloodstone, and Ernst Sablinova-as the decade comes to a close. Their secret mission is to hunt down Nazi super villains before they can unleash their terror upon the world, but the Avengers may encounter trouble from some unlikely competition! This promises to be a unique look into the history of The Avengers as this strange group of heroes attempts to save the world.

This week welcomes a slew of DC's New 52 second issues and second printings, but let's take a look at two new miniseries first! While working with an archaeologist who specializes in alien ruins, Carter Hall encounters a discovery that threatens to spead an alien plague through New York City! He must become the savage Hawkman to survive no matter the sacrifices that must be made. Another hero is born in Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men #1 by writers Ethan Van Sciver and Gail Simone and artist Yildiray Cinar! High school students Jason Rusch and Ronnie Raymond are swept up in a super-science conspiracy that forever changes their lives. As they come to terms with this change, the two must put aside their issues and stop a threat that may lead to the next Cold War!

Not all heroes work alone, as is evident in DC's newest team books this week! In Teen Titans #1, by Scott Lobdell, Brett Booth, and Norm Rapmund, Tim Drake is back as Red Robin and is up against an organization that aims to capture, kill, or co-opt all super-powered teenagers. However, Red Robin will have to team up with the powerhouse thief Wonder Girl and a hyper speedster claiming himself to be Kid Flash to stop the threat. Meanwhile in space, Kyle Rayner assembles a powerful team of warriors selected from the full spectrum of the corps in Green Lantern: New Guardians #1 by Tony Bedard, Tyler Kirkham, and Batt. The trick for Rayner will be him keeping the group together! And if you are looking for a group that tackles the more mystic problems of the universe, look no further than Justice League Dark #1 by Peter Milligan and Mikel Janin. Shade the Changing Man, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Zatanna and John Constantine must join forces to stop a witch gone made known as The Enchantress. Super powers and evil witches are not the only things that threaten lives! Writer Mike Costa and artist Ken Lashley present an elite force of military specialists in Blackhawks #1. The Blackhawks fight a battle against an enemy faster, more brutal, and technically advanced than ever before in this new series.

It would not be a new DC 52 week without a few books that stand out from the regular crowd. Jonah Hex is back in All-Star Western #1 by writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti and artist Moritat. Gotham City is a one-horse town full of violence and crime, but Amadeus Arkham, pioneer of criminal psychology, wants Hex's unique brand of justice to assist Gotham Police Department in tracking down a serial killer. Fast forward back to current time, Priscilla Kitaen is Voodoo, a possible hero, villian or both, leaves a trail of violence behind her as readers experience the new DCU through her eyes, but those eyes may not always see what is actually there. Finally, we come to I, Vampire #1 by Josh Fialkov and Andrea Sorrentino. Andrew Stanton is a vampire and has protected mankind for hundreds of years from the supernatural horrors of the world. Even though DC is right in the middle of their successful relaunch, they have not forgotten their history. As the 30th anniversary of the New Teen Titans approaches, DC celebrates with the release of the New Teen Titans: Games HC by Marv Wolfman and George Perez! This amazing story, never told before now, promises to be a event that new and old fans alike will not want to miss. Set in the 1980s, Wolfman and Perez bring back the fan favorite characters from their original run to take part in a deadly game in which they are the pieces and New York City is the game board. This long lost story is a great compliment piece to the new relaunch books out this month.

At long last, the X-Men return to Marvel's Ultimate line this week in Ultimate Comics X-Men #1, written by Nick Spencer with art by Paco Medina. The truth behind the x-gene has been made public and thus ends one of the biggest government cover-ups, but the truth doesn't always solve the problem. After the shocking revelation, mutants suffer a crisis of identity, and the divide between man and x-man grows wider. However, one question still remains: who is this new group of X-Men and what can they do in this time of need? You won't want to miss the debut of this series. Fans also have X-Men Schism #4 by Jason Aaron and Alan Davis to look forward to this week.

IDW continues the adventures of the Starship Enterprise's crew from J.J. Abrams' hit 2009 Star Trek film in the new ongoing Star Trek #1, written by Mike Johnson with art by Stephen Molnar. Roberto Orci, Star Trek's (2009) writer and producer, is also on board offering creative collaboration. The new series re-imagines the classic stories from the original series in the alternate film time-line while also introducing never before seen enemies and allies to Kirk, Spock, and the rest of the crew. The well known "Where No Man Has Gone Before" is first to receive this new envisioning. What better way to spend time until 2012's anticipate movie sequel than checking out these all new tales.

The DCU's relaunched Bat-family continues to grow this week with the release of several highly-anticipated titles. First up, Batman #1, by fan-favorite writer Scott Snyder and artists Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion, marks the start of a new era for The Dark Knight! Gotham City proves to be deadlier than Batman ever expected as a series of killings leads the Detective to an ancient conspiracy! Meanwhile, Dick Grayson returns in Nightwing #1 by Kyle Higgins, Eddy Barrows, and JP Mayer. Dick embraces his destiny as Nightwing while a life he left long ago comes back into town: Haley's Circus! Once Dick's home, the circus now brings with it murder, mystery, and evil! The once boy wonder turned villain Jason Todd has put his life as the Red Hood behind him only to be recruited by Green Arrow's rejected sidekick Arsenal and the alien Starfire to lead their outlaw team in Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 by Scott Lobdell and Kenneth Rocafort. Speaking of outlaws, the cat is back in Catwoman #1 by Judd Winick and Guillem March. Selina Kyle is addicted to Batman, danger, and shiny, expensive things, and she just can't help herself! Why would she want to? Winick explores what really makes Catwoman tick in his new series. As if Gotham City didn't have enough heroes, Birds of Prey #1, by mystery novelist Duane Swierczynski and Jesus Saiz, introduces the covert-ops team of Black Canary and Starling as they track down the villains other heroes can't touch!

This week isn't all Bat-books! Written by Michael Green and Mike Johnson and art by Mahmund Asrar, Supergirl #1 introduces the world to girl with the unpredictable nature of a teenager and all of the powers of Superman! However, Supergirl has none of the Man of Steel's affection for Earth. Supergirl may have god-like powers, but Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang introduce us to the real thing in Wonder Woman #1! To the gods, humans' lives are playthings, but one woman chooses to protect humanity from these strange and powerful forces! Another god among men is born in J. T. Krull and Freddie Williams' Captain Atom #1! He is a hero without limits, charged with nuclear energy and possessing vast molecular powers, but can he stop from loosing himself? God's aren't the only out of this world threats to humanity! In Blue Beetle #1 by Tony Bedard and Ig Guara, Jaime Reyes is just a teen in high school who happens to be linked to a powerful scarab created by the Reach, an alien race seeking to annihilate any planet they come across, but it is his job to make sure this power is used as a force for good. While these heroes have their own books, there are many that may not get the spotlight they deserve, or the didn't until DC Universe Presents #1! This series plans to spotlight some of DC's most exciting heroes. In the first five-issue story, Paul Jenkins and Bernard Chang bring us the body-hopping hero Deadman, straight from Brightest Day!

This week also sees the release of two new DCU team oriented books sure to please fans! Right on the heels of last weeks Green Lantern #1 comes Green Lantern Corps #1 by Peter J. Tomasi and artists Fernando Pasarin and Scott Hanna! Hal Jordon has lost his powers and Sinestro is busy trying to get rid of his ring, so who will be there when dangerous conflicts erupt across the universe? Well, the Green Lantern Corps of course! Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and an elite Green Lantern strike force aim to keep the peace in a universe short in supply. The Legion is no stranger to conflict, and Legion of Super Heroes #1, by Paul Levitz and Francis Poertela, finds them decimated by one of the worst disasters in its history! The students of the academy help the team rebuild as an unimaginable power rises on the edges of Dominator space!

Miles Morales steps into some new Spider-duds this week in Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #1 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli. Who is Miles Morales? He's the new Spider-Man, of course! Morales takes up the mantel after Peter Parker's death, but fans should not fear because Bendis plans to keep the theme of the series the same as it has always been, power and responsibility. This book is part of Marvel's new Ultimates initiative to bring fans a more cohesive universe with consistent release schedules and is a great jumping on point for readers.

Marvel's big summer event also continues this week with the release of Fear Itself #6. With the heroes' hopes shattered, what will become of the world as it is shrouded in Fear?

Buffy is back in Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9: Freefall #1 by Adrew Chambliss and Joss Whedon with art by Georges Jeanty! At the end of season 8, Buffy saved the world by cutting it off from any supernatural influences, which means Willow has been left powerless and the long line of vampire slayers has come to a close. Even though her intentions were good, Buffy is now hated by those that once followed her into battle, so she relocates to San Fransisco to once again focus on slaying the things that go bump in the night. Whedon fans should also know that Dollhouse: Epitaphs #3 is out this week!

After last week's sell-out of every new-52 DCU book, there is another group set to hit shelves this week. Bat-fans have a couple books to watch for. Batman and Robin #1 by Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, and Mick Gray unites Batman and his son Damian in their battle against evil, but adjusting to their new partnership may be more difficult than they thought. Kate Kane finally gets her new series with the release of Batwoman #1 by J.H. Williams and Haden Blackman, and there is a lot going on in her life. Children are going missing, Bette Kane wants to be her sidekick, and some unsettling revelations about her father arise. The Superman family better watch out because its newest member happens to be a deadly weapon! Superboy #1, by Scott Lobdell, RB Silva, and Rob Lean, introduces the clone thought to be a failed experiment combining Kryptonian and human DNA, but as his powers are revealed, the world hopes a clone can develop a conscience. Speaking of science gone bad, Micheal Holt uses his brains and fists to stop problems only the world's third-smartest man can handle in Mister Terrific #1 by Eric Wallace and Roger Robinson. Those looking for a little cosmic action should look no further then Green Lantern #1 by Geoff Johns, Doug Mahnke, and Christian Alamy. The Corps has a new member, and a lot of Lanterns are not too happy. Speaking of people the Green Lanterns don't like, Atrocitus and the rest of his Corps are back in there very own book: Red Lanterns #1 by Peter Milligan, Ed Benes, and Rob Hunter. Readers will also want to grab Legion Lost #1 by Fabian Nicieza and Pete Woods. Seven heroes travel back from the 31st century to the present day with the mission of saving their future, but when something goes wrong, the Legion finds themselves struggling for survival in a nightmarish world.

DC continues to show its supernatural side with the release of several new titles. Demon Knights #1, by Paul Cornell, Diogenes Neves, and Oclair Albert, takes readers back to the Dark Ages of the DCU as Madam Xanadu and Jason Blood are all that stand in the way of an invading barbarian horde. Resurrection Man #1, by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Fernando Dagnino, marks the return of Mitch Shelly to the DCU; Shelly was dead, but he cam back again, and again, and again. Each time he comes back, he is reborn with a new power. However, his escape from death has not gone unnoticed all of these times and forces gather to stop him from ever coming back again. Fresh off his hit issue of Animal Man #1, Jeff Lemire presents Frankenstein, Agent of Shade #1 with art by Alberto Ponticelli. Frankenstein is a member of the secret organization known as The Super Human Advanced Defense Executive tasked with protection the world from threats more horrifying than him, but when he lives in a world that vilifies him for who and what he is, will Frank even want to help?

If bad guys are your thing, look no further than Suicide Squad #1 by Adam Glass and Marco Rudy. A team of death-row super villians-Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and King Shark-are recruited to take on missions too dangerous for anyone that isn't disposable, but after being captured, which one of them will reveal the truth behind this illegal operation? Not one for teams, Slade Wilson, DCU's best mercenary, gets his own book this week: Deathstroke #1 by Kyle Kiggins, Joe Bennett, and Art Thibert. Deathstroke has been at it for a long time and made a lot of enemies, and they should remember that he never quits and never to turn their backs. While not exactly a bad guy like these other folks, Cole Cash, the charming grifter, finds himself labeled as a serial killer while hunting inhuman monsters disguised as regular people in Grifter #1 by Nathan Edmondson and Cafu.

With the release of Justice League #1 and subsequent sell-out from distributors (don't worry, we still have some copies) last week, the DCU relaunch is off to an amazing start! We are in luck this week as the first big wave of new #1 books continuing DC's biggest event in years hits the shelves. First up, Grant Morrison and Rags Morales bring readers Action Comics #1 and tell the story of Superman's humble beginnings in Metropolis as his powers develop in a world not used to super beings. This extra-sized issue promises to be the cornerstone of the entire DCU! Detective Comics #1, DC's flagship title, is also relaunched this week for the very first time by Tony Daniel and Ryan Winn. Follow Batman as he plays a dangerous game of bat and mouse with the killer The Gotham Ripper! There is more Bat Family to be had! Batgirl #1 by Gail Simone, Ardian Syaf, and Vicente Cifuentes puts Barbara Gordon back in the suit for the first time in over twenty years, and Judd Winick and Ben Oliver present Batwing #1, following Batman Incorporated's Batman of Africa into a land of beauty and horror.

Some of our other DCU favorites also premiere this week. Hawk and Dove #1 by Sterling Gates and Rob Liefeld promises plenty of action as Hank Hall and Dawn Granger, his new partner in the war on crime, uncover a plot to plunge the United States into a new civil war! Deadman fans should also keep their eyes on this book because of his relationship with Dawn. Green Arrow #1 by J.T. Krul, Dan Jurgens, and Norm Rapmund finds the emerald archer traveling the world and bringing outlaws to justice while breaking all of the laws himself. Scott McDaniel, John Rozum, and Jonathan Glapion take us along for the ride in Static Shock #1 as electromagnetic hero Static takes on the villains lurking in New York City's underworld. If team books are your thing, Justice League International #1 by Dan Jurgens, Aaron Lopresti, and Matt Ryan follows a new super group created by the UN, Justice League International, charged with promoting unity and trust while trying to not kill each other in the process. Stormwatch #1 by Paul Cornell and Miguel Sepulvda follows the dangerous super human police force as Jack Hawksmoor, Martian Manhunter, and the rest of the crew try to recruit Midnighter and Apollo, two of the deadliest super powers in the world.

Those looking for some of the more off the path DC books should look no further than Animal Man #1 by Jeff Lemire, Travel Foreman, and Dan Green. Buddy Baker has gone from the super powered Animal Man to a family man attempting to hold the household together as his daughter Maxine starts manifesting familiar and dangerous powers. While not part of the new DCU, Sweet Tooth #25 by Jeff Lemire is also out this week! Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette bring one of the world's most iconic characters back to the heart of the DCU in Swamp Thing #1! A monster rises in the desert as Alec Holland attempts to put his newly returned life back together; however, the Green needs a monster to fight a monster, and Swamp Thing is life's last hope. OMAC #1 by Dan Didio, Keith Giffen, and Scott Koblish introduces a new, yet familiar, beast to the DCU as the all-seeing Brother Eye satellite recruits an unwilling Kevin Kho into a war between Checkmate and Brother Eye. War is no stranger to members of the Easy Company in Men of War #1 by Ivan Brandon and Tom Derenick. Joe Rock assumes control of the group of ex-military men turned contractors as the they navigate a Super-Villain ravaged battlefield.

Marvel's big summer events continue this week as well. Fear Itself: Wolverine #3 hits shelves, and the Spider-Island story line has several new titles. In Spider-Island: I Love New York, various artists and writers pay tribute to New York City and its spider-powered inhabitants through the eyes of the common man; this issue also features a bonus Punisher story by Greg Rucka! In Spider-Island: Avengers #1, the unlikely heroes Frog-Man and Squirrel Girl are called in to help as the Avengers are spread thin by the threat of the newly powered populace.

Fans of Matt Fraction and Gabriel Ba's Casanova have loved Marvel's colored re-releases of the original story. However, this week, an all-new, full-color 32-page story begins in Casanova: Avaritia #1! Join the fun as the world's best superspy kills his way from dimension to dimension in this new action packed story that must be experienced to be believed.

DC's new 52 starts this Wednesday, August 31

After several long months of rumors, hints, and previews, DC's new 52 line-up starts this Wednesday in Justice League #1! But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Flashpoint #5 hits shelves this week too, and it's cover says it all: "It all changes here!" Flash and Reverse Flash face off in what promises to be a universe defining battle that we have all been waiting for. What happened to Barry's world? How did Thawne change everything? Or could someone else be responsible for the hellish world Flash seeks to erase? All of the answers will be revealed. Following right on the heels of the ground breaking conclusion to Flashpoint comes Justice League #1 by the superstar team of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee! Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's powerful series WE3 will see its first hardcover edition this week! The WE3 Deluxe Edition HC collects the original three issue miniseries along with some great bonus content. This edition has 10 new story pages integrated into the series and 28-pages of bonus material containing character sketches and designs by Quitely and commentary and script excerpts from Morrison. For those not familiar with the series, three animals are transformed into prototype killing machines with enhanced nervous systems and deadly exoskeletons, but, with their purpose served, they are marked for decommission. However, the animals are able to escape their creators and embark on a dangerous journey in an attempt to find a place in a world where they do not belong. Fans of Morrison and Quitely should not miss this lovingly crafted hardcover edition.

Robert Kirkman is well known for his wildly successful Walking Dead series, but he also created the amazing superhero story Invincible! The series follows Invincible, the son of Omni-Man, and his attempt to come to terms with his developing powers and true origin. This week, readers new to the series can pick up the Invincible Compendium Vol. 01 that collects volumes 1-9 of the trade paperbacks. This is a great deal for those looking to check out this wonderful series. Kirkman's Walking Dead #88 is also out this week, so no one should be left wanting for something good to read.

Out of print for ten years, the Crow Special Edition TP finds its way back to shelves this week. Eric Draven and his fiancee are murdered on the eve of Halloween. Eric's spirit, unable to find rest and hungry for revenge, returns from the dead, guided by a crow, to find his fiancee's killers. This is the story that inspired the hit film. Terry Moore's latest book Rachel Rising #1 from Abstract Studios hits shelves this week. Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen III: Century: 1969 finally reaches store shelves this week! The year is 1969 and the place is London, but the times have changed in the sixty years since we last heard from Mina Murray and her league. Tadukic Acid Diethylamide 26 is the drug of choice putting London into its psychedelic daze. The same magic order the League investigated in 1910 is back, but now Mina and crew must traverse London's hippie and criminal subculture along with its occultists to stop the Moonchild that may turn out to be the Anti-Christ! Fans of Moore should also take a peak at Alan Moore: Storyteller by Gary Spencer Millidge with a forward by Michael Moorcock. This lovingly crafted book surveys Moore's work from some of his most best selling titles to his rarely seen or heard experimental projects. Storyteller comes with an audio CD featuring excerpts from some of Moore's multimedia pieces.

The Spider-Event of the decade starts now in Amazing Spider-Man #666 by Dan Slott and Stefano Caselli! After the life shattering events of Shadowland, Matt Murdock has returned to Hell's Kitchen with a new outlook on life. No longer wallowing in self-pity and depression, Matt is going full steam ahead with life, career, and Daredevil. However, old friends and allies may not be able to forgive and forget his past transgressions as easily as he has. There is also a new D.A. in town, and she might have an idea of who the Daredevil is. Waid takes Daredevil in a brand new direction with this double-sized first issue that will delight new and returning fans. Don't miss this classic Marvel character's big return.

Even with DC's line-wide relaunch fast approaching, they are not forgetting their past. In DC's new series DC Retroactive the company will take a look back at some of its key characters and tell a brand new story like they would have been told in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. In fact, they got the original writers and artists to come back and tell these tales! First up, DC Retroactive: Batman, The 70s #1 tells a new tale from writer Len Wein and artist Tom Mandrake and includes a reprint of a classic Wein story. Next, writer Cary Bates and artist Benito Gallego present a new Scarlet Speedster story in DC Retroactive: The Flash, The 70s #1, which also includes a classic story from the 70s also by Cary Bates. Last but not least, DC Retroactive: Wonder Woman, The 70s #1 is brought to you by Dennis O'Neil and artist J. Bone and includes a reprint of one of O'Neil's original 70s stories. This new series of retro books promises to be a fun read for all fans.

The war is over between the Green Lanterns, and War of the Green Lanterns, Aftermath #1 by Tony Bedard reveals the consequences. Hal Jordan faces an unclear future, and the lives of Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner are never going to be the same. Forget everything you knew about the Corps! The future of the Lanterns starts here.

Fans of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's The Boys are in for a treat this week! Ennis is reunited with Robertson on The Boys: Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker #1, the final miniseries before heading into the conclusion of the series. This new series takes a look at the origin of Billy Butcher and helps define who he is and why he does what he does. This is the story fans have been waiting for.

This weeks also brings several new entries into Marvel's latest blockbuster Fear Itself. Keep an eye out for Fear Itself: Deadpool #2, FF #1, Fearsome Four #2, and Home Front #4 miniseries. New beginnings in comics on Wednesday, July 13

X-Men: Schism #1 (written by Jason Aarron and art by Carlos Pacheco), the most important X-Men event of the decade, releases Wednesday and aims to set the stage for X-books in the coming years. With their decreased population, times have never been more uncertain and dangerous for mutants than they are now. Humanity, despite the X-Men's best effort, still refuses to trust the mutant race, and anti-mutant fear and hatred only grows after a mutant-triggered international incident occurs. However, when mutant kind needs them the most, a split begins to form between two factions within the X-Men, threatening to destroy their entire foundation. Schism is the perfect starting place for new readers wanting to take a step into the X-Men universe. Each issue in this five part story will feature Jason Aarron teaming up with some of the industry's top artists.

Written by Ed Brubaker with art by Steve McNiven, Captain America #1 spins out of the shocking events in Fear Itself. After the lose of Bucky Barnes, a nation is left without a Captain America, so Steve Rogers must take up the mantle once again to lead the good fight. I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe fourth of July! A quick note, comics will NOT be delayed this week because of the holiday. The books will be on shelves this Wednesday, July 6 when the doors open at 11 a.m.

Two of the Marvel universe's favorite clawed heroes return in James Palmiotti and Joseph Michael Linsner's Wolverine and Black Cat: Claws 2 #1! Picking up right where the first series left off, Black Cat and Wolverine have barely had a chance to relax from their encounter with Arcade and White Rabbit before it starts all over again. After the two villains escape their exile in The Savage Land, Wolverine and Black Cat are back on their trails, and we are sure to get a great no-holds barred battle between the four in this new Claws Adventure.

Magneto has reformed and join the X-Men, but when he goes to save a young mutant in trouble, he accidentally sets off a series of events that will explore the evil of the Marvel universe like never before in Vengeance #1 by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta. Find out who the new Teen Brigade is and what the Brotherhood wants with the Young Masters of Evil! If that isn't enough, the Red Skull is somehow pulling the strings from beyond the grave. Evil is afoot, and vengeance is not far behind.

DC's Flashpoint #3 hits shelves this week, and I know I can't wait to see what happens after the shocking ending of the last issue. Marvel's Fear Itself #4 continues it's reign of fear this week. After the loss of one of their own, the Avengers must stand against the Serpent as it grows ever stronger. The action doesn't stop there; the X-Force must stop the hate group The Purifiers as it tries to 'save' as many souls as it can before the end of the world in Fear Itself: Uncanny X-Force #1 by Rob Williams and Simone Bianchi. There is not rest for Wolverine as he fights against a mercenary black ops group called STRIKE and tries to protect his reporter girlfriend, Melita, in Feat Itself: Wolvering #1 by Seth Peck and Roland Boschi. Also, make sure you don't miss Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #3 on shelves this week.

Fans of the hit web comic Penny Arcade are in luck! Penny Arcade TP Vol 07, Be Good Little Puppy is out and collects an entire year's worth of hilarious comics with commentary from the creators, Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik!

Marvel welcomes everyone to a new age this week in Iron Age #1 by writers Christos Cage and Rob Williams and artists Lee Weeks and Ben Oliver. Tony Stark is trapped in the past, and it's up to Iron Man to save the future. Tony's past self is too drunk, and his fellow Avengers think his story of a doomed future is a simple drunk rambling, so he must turn to Hank Pym, exiled Avenger. That's not all though! They also must enlist the help of the Avenger's greatest foe, Ultron! A second story finds Tony fighting along side Captain Britain for freedom from a totalitarian state London trying to make a 'cleaner' future.

After a long sabbatical, Eric Powell's Goon #34 finds its way back to the shelves this week! In the Goon's absence, a new, sparkly breed of horror has moved into town, and he is none to happy. When some of these gothy vampires summon the new generation for revenge on the Goon, he makes sure they learn how much he dislikes the new status qua of horror. With this issue, Goon will be back on its bimonthly schedule!

DC is back this week with a new round of Flashpoint tie-ins! First up, we have Flashpoint: Project Superman #1, by Scott Snyder, Lowell Francis, and Gene Ha. After experimenting on him for years, Neil Sinclair was driven mad and locked away. Now, after a strange event in Metropolis, Sinclair has managed to escape! Flashpoint: Hal Jordan #1, by Adam Schlagman and Ben Oliver, is up next! Find out what Hal Jordan's life would be like if he never got the ring. Both of those books come with a free pin! Peter Parker makes the ultimate sacrifice this Wednesday, June 22

Peter Parker has finally met his match in this week's Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #160 by Brian Bendis and Mark Bagley. In the final chapter of the 'Death of Spider-Man' storyline, a happy ending is not looking likely for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. With his identity revealed to those around him, Spider-Man will do whatever it takes to save the people he loves. This issue will come polybagged. Also out this week, Ultimate Comics Avengers vs New Ultimates #5 by Mark Millar and Leinil Yu will continue its side of the 'DOSM' story.

At the conclusion of Brightest Day, Earth's new protector, the Swamp Thing, was chosen. In Brightest Day Aftermath: The Search for the Swamp Thing #1 by Jonathan Vankin and Marco Castiello, John Constantine, returning to the DC universe after a long absence, tries to convince the heroes of the DCU that the return of Swamp Thing may not be the best news. Constantine knows something isn't right and the brightest day is drawing to its end.

Flashpoints need not worry this week because four new books aim to reveal even more about the new DCU. In Flashpoint: Kid Flash Lost #1 by Sterling Gates and Oliver Nome, Kid Flash is lost, but the question is not where but when? After hearing of her exploits among the Amazons, we can finally learn what Lois Lane has been up to as she prepares to reveal the Amazon's secrets in Flashpoint: Lois Lane and the Resistance #1 by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Eddy Nunez. In Flashpoint: The Outsider by James Robinson and Javi Fernandez, the Outsider refuses to join in the war, and who can really blame him? If you had a suit like his, would you want to get it dirty? Each of these first issues comes with a promotional button. Last but not least, there is Flashpoint: The Reverse Flash One-Shot by Sean Ryan and Joel Gomez. He has more power than ever, but what has he been up to?

Alpha Flight #1, by best-selling authors Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente and artist Dale Eaglesham, hits shelves this week, kicking off the Fear Itself maxi-series spin-off. After the resurrection of their departed team members, the original Alpha Flight are reunited just in time to fight the Fear spreading through their country and the entire world. Hitting shelves this week, Ghost Rider #0.1 kicks off the new series written by Rob Williams and art by Matthew Clark. During the events of Fear Itself, a mysterious figure surfaces to offer Johnny Blaze what he has always wanted: a chance to no longer be the Ghost Rider. However, will he be able to accept this Faustian pact? The decision he makes will determine the fate of his and everyone in the Marvel Universe's souls. And if he does make this choice, someone will have to take his place, but who will it be? Make sure you check out the end of an era for Blaze and a new direction for the Ghost Rider!

Fear keeps spreading after the events of last week's Fear Itself #3. In Fear Itself: Deadpool #1, like a true business-minded mercenary, Deadpool sees the events of Fear Itself as an opportunity to make some serious cash! Is he one of the worthy? Did he truly receive one of the Serpent's hammers? Perhaps, he just bedazzled a regular hammer. While wise-crackin' Wade does his thing, Man-Thing goes mad as the world is consumed by fear in Fear Itself: Fearsome Four #1; She-Hulk, Nighthawk, Frankenstein, and Howard the Duck join forces to stop him, but in their effort, they too become monsters of fear! Problems for our Marvel heroes don't stop there. Also out this week, Fear Itself: Spider-Man #2 finds Spider-Man fighting to protect the people of New York City from themselves, but to make his job even more difficult, Vermin has popped his vile head into the picture.

In preparation for the new film, DC presents two of five one-shots. Green Lantern Movie Prequel: Kilowog (written by Peter Tomasi and Adam Schlagman) and Green Lantern Prequel: Tomar Re (written by Marc Guggenheim) tell the story of the Kilowog and Tomar Re before the events of the film. Anyone looking forward to the film should give these one-shots a look.

If you're like us, you can not get enough of Flashpoint, and we're in luck this week! First up, we have Flashpoint: Emperor Aquaman #1; no longer the hero we once knew, Aquaman is going to flood the world and rule it! In Flashpoint: Citizen Cold #1, Citizen Cold loves someone he should not, but that surely won't back fire on him. Will it? Then, in Flashpoint: Frankenstein and the Creatures of the Unknown, a group of monsters must find their maker to survive. And last but not least, in Flashpoint: Deathstroke, The Curse of Ravager #1, the dreaded pirate Deathstroke will stop at nothing until he recovers his lost treasure. Don't forget! The new miniseries American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest #1 comes to you this week by the ongoing series' writer Scott Snyder and artist Sean Murphy. Vampire hunters Felicia Book and Cash McCogan go behind enemy lines in Nazi-occupied Romania to discover a rumored vampire cure with the help of the secret organization Vassals of the Morningstar. However, their history with Skinner Sweet is about to make the mission even more difficult than imagined. Fans of the regular series will not want to miss this.

To ease anyone's fear, we want to let you know that Memorial Day has not impacted new books this week, so comics will come in as normal this Wednesday. We look forward to seeing you!

Shocking revelations and universe altering events continue this week in DC's Flashpoint #2 by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert! No matter the cost, Barry Allen has set out to discover where his world's super heroes have gone. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ocean, the clash between Emperor Aquaman and the pirate Deathstroke comes to a head. This Wednesday also sees the release of several mini-series that take a closer look at the faces of this world's heroes and villians, and as a bonus, each of these titles comes with a special pin to celebrate the event! In Flashpoint: Abin Sur, The Green Lantern #1, Abin Sur survived the crash landing on Earth and must sacrifice everything he holds dear to protect his sector. In Flashpoint: Batman, Knight of Vengeance #1, Wayne spends his nights protecting the streets as Batman, but at day, he spends his time running Wayne Casinos! Flashpoint: Secret Seven #1 sees a team divided as one betrays all of them. The crew of Space Vessel ESS Savannah and its beautiful crew are on a journey to discover the wormhole that will take them home, but along their way, they will encounter many exotic world and hostile aliens! Something old, something new, something Kirby this Wednesday, May 25

In their first full project together since the mid-nineties, Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross, the powerhouse team behind Kingdom Come, are reunited in the pages of Dynamite Entertainment's Kirby Genesis #0! Set in a universe populated by some of Kirby's greatest concepts, such as Captain Victory, Silver Star, and characters never seen before. A message was sent into the stars on the Pioneer 10 space probe, and the world is about to get an answer. However, this answer will change the lives of three regular people, and the world is never going to be the same. This zero issue offers an original story introducing people to the Genesis with a bunch of bonus material sure to please fans.

The biggest Zenescope crossover event of the year starts in Grimm Fairy Tales: Dream Eater Saga Crossover #1. The Dream Eater has set upon the Earth looking for its first victim, and the heroes and villians from across the Grimm Fairy Tale universe must prepares themselves for what looks like the end of everything. Look for characters from Wonderland, Neverland, Salem's Daughter, Sinbad, and all of the other Grimm Fairy Tale books! There are also trades available to help anyone interested in the Grimm universe catch up!

The 'War of the Green Lanterns' continues this week! Explore Gotham City's history in this week's Batman: Gates of Gotham #1 by writers Scott Snyder and Kyle Higgins and artist Trevor McCarthy. Batman is forming a team with some of the greatest detectives, such as Red Robin, Owlman, I-Ching, and others, to help explore a mystery older than Gotham itself. As the mystery grows, the team finds itself exploring different eras in Gotham's history and some of the most well known families in the city. This series will also delve further into some of the mysterious story elements from Grant Morrison's Batman: Return of Bruce Wayne. That's not all of the Bat books this week! Batman and Robin #23 features the return of Jason Todd as the Red Hood, and Batman #710 brings back another of Batman's infamous villains, Two-Face!

Acclaimed writer Chris Yost and artists Paco Medina and Dalibor Talajic kick off the next big X-Men story arc in X-Men Giant-Size #1! 'From First to Last' is the initial chapter of 'X-Men: First to Last' and finds the X-Men up against one of their greatest foes from the past that you have never seen before! Years ago, something so horrible happened to the original X-Men (Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, Iceman, and Professor X) that they have locked the memory away, but it all comes back with the introduction of the Evolutionaries! Mutantkind's history is about to be rewritten. And don't miss X-Men: Prelude to Schism #2 on the shelves this week.

Dave Stevens introduced The Rocketeer to the world almost thirty years ago to instant acclaim. This week, the legacy of the beloved character is celebrated with the release of IDW's Rocketeer Adventures #1! This miniseries was created with the help of the Stevens family and some of the finest creators in comics. The first issue features an amazing cover by Alex Ross and contains stories by John Cassaday, Mike Allred, Kurt Busiek, and Michael Kaluta. This week, Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert bring readers DC's next big event in Flashpoint #1! Waking up at his desk, Barry Allen finds himself in a world rushing towards a cataclysmic war, but that isn't the only problem. Everyone is different. Friends and family once dead are alive while some are now gone. The heroes everyone knows have changed. Cyborg has become America's last hope, and he is trying to gather the likes of The Outsiders, The Secret 7, S!H!A!Z!A!M!, Citizen Cold, and others! If Flash doesn't find out who altered the timeline, it could mean the end of the world. Expect to see some very familiar faces like you never have before. Before you read Flashpoint, make sure you pick up Flash #12, which is also out this week. This issue concludes "The Road to Flashpoint" and leads directly into issue 1 of Flashpoint.

Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #1 continues the wave of Fear rolling over the Marvel universe. Written by Sean McKeever with art by Mike Norton, Youth in Revolt finds the world still in the grip of the god of Fear, and the remaining members of the Initiative program are being sworn in as federal agents to help keep a semblance of normalcy. However, everything doesn't go as planned, and these young heroes may soon be dealing with their own civil war.

Batman: Arkham City #1, by Paul Dini and artist Carlos D'Anda, bridges the gap between hit games Batman: Arkham Asylum and the forthcoming Batman: Arkham City game. After stopping Joker's take over of Arkham, Batman is trying to return Gotham to a state of normalcy. However, the Dark Knight doesn't get a break as Gotham is targeted by two super-powered twins, which forces Gotham's new mayor to take drastic measures. Also out this week, Grant Morrison's Batman Incorporated #6 continues its globetrotting story.

The chilling vampire tale continues in 30 Days of Night: Night Again #1 by Joe Lansdale and artist Sam Kieth. After a second vampire attack and only a few days left of night, a band of survivors in Alaska flee to a climate change facility where a strange object found in the ice is being studied. This leads to a deadly confrontation between humans and vampires with a surprising guest thrown in the mix. For readers new to the series, there are plenty of trades available to get caught up.

With everything that has happened to the X-Men in the past few years, a break would seem in order for them, but not everyone (Wolverine) sees eye-to-eye after some of the choices made by their leader, Cyclops. This prelude to the big event aims to answer what it takes to be a leader and how it changes a person. Anyone looking to get into the X-Men should check this book out.

Superman finally returns to Action Comics this week with the release of issue #900! Over the past year, Lex Luthor has been on a quest for the mysterious black energy spheres. Now, everything comes to a head in a showdown between Superman and a cosmically powered Luthor! This 100-page giant not only brings the Man of Steel back to the title but also sets the stage for an epic story coming this summer. Along with regular writer Paul Cornell, guest writers Richard Donner (Dir. of Super: The Movie), David Goyer (Writer of The Dark Knight), Damon Lindelof (co-creator of Lost), and more join forces to help celebrate this landmark issue.

Abbey and the rest of the Danger Girls are back in Danger Girl and The Army of Darkness #1 by writer Andy Hartnell and artist Chris Bolson. After the girls learn of the reappearance of the elusive Book of the Dead, they quickly discover it has fallen into the wrong hands, so they set out to stop whatever evil may come of it. Take a journey into comics this Wednesday, April 13

Returning to its roots, the Thor title is reverting back to Journey Into Mystery with issue #622. This issue marks the beginning of the new creative team of writer Kieron Gillen and artist Doug Braithwaite. Loki has returned from the dead, but mystery still surrounds his death and return. Back in Asgard, this trickster god is sure to make trouble, but what does this mean for Thor? While all of this is going on, something terrible is coming and nothing will be the same. This issue also includes a Thor primer to get new readers caught up on the god of thunder since Straczynski brought him back to the Marvel Universe. A Fear Itself tie-in.

'The Death of Spider-Man' is upon us in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #157, and artist Mark Bagley is teaming back up with Brian Bendis to kick the story off right! The Sinister Six are on the loose after their escape from prison, and they are not pulling any punches. With Spidey just starting his training with the Ultimates, is he prepared for what's to come? Don't miss the beginning of the end. Also out this week, Mark Millar and Leinil Yu's Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates #3 continues its tie-in with 'The Death of Spider-Man."

The 'Reign of Doomsday' rampage continues in Superboy #6. Smallville has had its fair share of weird events since Connor has taken up residence in Superman's home town, but this may be its worse. Will Superboy be able to hold back the monster that killed Superman? Why is Doomsday after the Super-family? The questions keep on coming as conclusion of Act I draws closer.

The prelude to 'Flashpoint' continues this week with Geoff John's Flash #10. Hot Pursuit, the new speedster in town, is on the scene with his Cosmic Motorcycle, and he brings a terrible warning to Flash. The Flashpoint is drawing closer, and no one is safe.

Steve Rogers, Super Soldier Annual #1, by James Asmus and Ibraim Roberson, picks up after last month's Uncanny X-Men Annual #3. The X-men are trapped in another dimension by Blastaar, and Steve Rogers is embarking on a mission to bring them back. However, the Negative Zone is not going to make it easy on anyone.

Also on shelves, Jonathan Hickman and several talented artists bring readers the one-shot Shield: Inifinity. Continuing from the fan-favorite series of 2010, the mysteries of Da Vinci, Newton, Nostradamus, and Tesla are further explored as Hickman brings you the apocrypha of the Marvel Universe.

The Fear is here this Wednesday, April 6

The wait is over. Matt Fraction (Uncanny X-Men, Iron Man, Casanova, and more) and Stuart Immonen's (Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and more) Fear Itself #1 hits shelves this Wednesday and will set the tone of the Marvel Universe for years to come. Sin, daughter of the Red Skull, has discovered something of such great power that even her father failed in obtaining it. This discovery also reveals a secret that will shock the Marvel Universe to its core. Fear personified is rising, and as friends and family turn against each other, the mettle of the world's heroes will be tested but not everyone will survive. Also out, Fear Itself: Home Front #1 follows Robbie Baldwin, formerly Speedball and blamed for the events igniting Civil War, as he attempts to rally the people of Stamford against a new foe instilling fear in everyone. Can the man people blame for six hundred deaths unite them or will he die trying? Also in this issue, an all new story starring super agent Jimmy Woo!

After the events of the Chaos War, the son of Zeus, Hercules, has been left without powers and his faithful sidekick. But that won't stop him from kicking some butt. In Herc #1, writers Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente with artist Khoi Pham take Hercules to the streets when a mythic evil rises, and a group of Hercules-worshippers cry out for their god's help. With over three thousand years of combat under his belt, Herc raids the armory of Ares for some of his legendary weapons to answer the call of battle.

DC fans have a couple of specials to look forward to this week. Superman/Batman Annual #5 picks up the 'Reign of Doomsday' story line. Supergirl and Batman are trapped in the JLA satellite with Doomsday and Cyborg Superman. With the help of the Justice League, they attempt to fend off these two monsters, but the League may not be prepared for this new Doomsday. Then in the JLA 2011, 80 Page Giant, Adam Glass (producer and writer for TV's Supernatural) and many other creators take readers on a journey revealing different key battles between the JLA and their mystical foes.

Show writers Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon are back after the the post-apocalyptic conclusion of the television series with artist Cliff Richards to bring you the continued story of three survivors in a technological virus ravaged world. The tech used by the Rossum Corporation to create their "dolls" for the wealthy and powerful has been released on the world. With those affected by the virus turning into mindless butchers, a few who escaped with their minds join forces in hopes of taking Rossum down!

Mark Millar's Kick-Ass 2 #2 is finally here! Dave Lizewski, our masked hero, has inspired people to become their own heroes, and they are forming their own super hero group! Is this all too good to be true? Probably. Oh yea, Hit-Girl is along for the ride as well! Don't miss it!

Clive Barker, one of the most well known names in horror, and Boom! Studios are bringing Pinhead back to comics this week with the help of writer Christopher Monfette and artist Leonardo Manco in Hellraiser #1. Barker takes on writing duties once again to bring the next official chapter in the saga that will change the Cenobites forever: Pinhead's final story! Fans of Barker's original novella and film and horror fans alike will not want to pass this book up. As a bonus, a ten-page back up story written by Larry Wachowski, co-writer and director of The Matrix, is included in this huge 40-page premiere issue!

The streets of Gotham are safe once again with the release of David Finch's awaited Batman: The Dark Knight #2. Confronting the Penguin in his search for Dawn Golden, Bruce's childhood friend, leads Batman down a darker road than ever before. Faced with this, The Dark Knight must turn to the demon Etrigan for a favor that is not without a price. Also out this week, Grant Morrison's Batman Inc. #4 takes Bruce back to Gotham for a team-up with Batwoman.

Two more of Marvel's new-reader-friendly Point One books hit this week. First up, Captain America #615.1 finds Buck Barnes on trial while the need for a Captain America is greater than ever. Who will take up the legendary shield and become the newest Captain America? Keep an eye out for these other Cap books this week as well: Captain America and Batroc, Captain America: Man out of Time #5, and Captain America #1 70th Anniversary Edition, presenting the classic first issue by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.

The second Point One book this week is Thor #620.1 by writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning and art by Mark Brooks. Questing for immortality, the Grey Gargoyle sets his sites on obtaining godhood in Asgard, but Thor is there to stop Gargoyle in his tracks. However, will Asgard be the same after the battle between these two powerful foes? This is a great time to start reading Thor as it makes the transition into Journey Into Mystery #622 and Mighty Thor #1 in April.

Marvel's next big event is kicking off this weekend with the release of Fear Itself, Prologue: Book of the Skull. The Red Skull's daughter, Sin, teams up with Baron Zemo to uncover the secret power Red Skull left behind when he died. If Sin gets her hands on the what her father risked his life for in World War II, she will be able to accomplish what her father never could: complete power. Written by Ed Brubaker and art by Scot Eaton, this is a book not to be missed as it finally starts revealing the mystery of the Fear Itself event.

Following up the amazing first issue of Sigil, writer Mark Waid and artist Mirco Pierfederici resurrect CrossGen's Ruse with a new first issue. Simo Archard, the greatest Victorian detective the world has known, and his partner Emma Bishop are on the case of the mysterious death of an archduke, but what seems like an open and shut case leads to a life threatening revelation. Don't worry, readers do not have to be familiar with the previous series to pick up this new book!

CrossGen isn't the only series seeing a revival as Ardden Entertainment brings back two Atlas characters: Phoenix and The Grim Ghost! In Phoenix #1, Ed Tyler is on the run from alien abductors in a suit imbuing him with amazing powers: every time he dies, Ed comes back even more powerful! It is becoming apparent to Ed that he is no longer just a human! In The Grim Ghost #1, a man named Michael learns of 'The Fringe' from Matthew Dunzinane, The Grim Ghost, and its long, sorted history and powers, including a centuries-old force called Braddock. Make sure you check out the new takes on these old characters.

Marvel's Point One initiative continues this week with the release of Uncanny X-Force #5.1 and Hulk #30.1. These books offer new readers a chance to pick up some of Marvel's hottest series without worrying about the current story arch. The Young Avenger's co-creator Allan Heinberg and artist Alan Davis bring you Avengers Children's Crusade: Young Avengers #1. After seven years, Marvel revives CrossGen's hit comic Sigil with a brand new issue one this week. Writer Mike Carey (The Unwritten and Age of X) and artist Leonard Kirk bring you the tale of a war raging through time on the battlefield of history. With the warriors in this epic clash at a stalemate, a 16 year old girl from South Carolina with a strange symbol on her chest may be the key to saving everyone or damning all of creation. Don't worry if you missed out on the original series, this new outing is meant for new and old fans alike.

Venom is America's new spider-hero, and he's getting his own book starting this week by writer Rick Remender and artist Tony Moore. Venom #1 picks up where Amazing Spider Man #654.1 left off with the alien symbiote in the U.S. military's possession and war hero Flash Thompson at the wheel. Venom, now a top covert agent, is ready to take on missions only he can handle, but can Flash handle the symbiote? See Venom like he never has been before.

Batman's globe trotting recruitment adventure picks back up this week in Batman, Inc. #3 by Grant Morrison and artist Yanick Paquette. This issue takes Bruce and Catwoman to South America in search of Gaucho, Argentina's Batman Incorporated representative. As always, nothing is as easy as it sounds as an unexpected adversary threatens to cut the trip short for this Bat and Cat.

Reign of Doomsday continues in Outsiders #37 this week. The Eradicator is up against the deadly Doomsday as Geo-Force, Katana, the Looker, Halo, and the Olympian's lives hang in the balance. All the while, Black Lighting and his Outsiders must choose between a life imprisoned or... Well, let's not ruin the surprise. Don't miss this issue as the Doomsday summer event grows ever closer.

Marvel's first all ages graphic novel series under the Icon imprint hits shelves this week. Takio is Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's latest creator owned project since Powers about two adopted sisters. Like a lot of siblings, the sisters do not get along. One day, an accident gives both sisters superpowers, and they become the world's first actual superheroes! Follow along as they come to terms with these new powers and attempt to work together to save the world before dinner time. Fans of Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man, parents, and kids should certainly give this book a look.

If that isn't enough, Bendis and Oeming's Powers #7 is out this week. This cop drama meets superheroes story pushes forward with the death of God. Yes, God, and it is up to Walker and Sunrise to investigate the case. Oh yea, Walker's old partner Deena Pilgrim is back and the reasons are sure to surprise you. While this is all going on, the new Retro Girl fights for her life against a deadly alien virus. That is a lot of action packed into this amazing series. If you have never checked the book out, do yourself a favor and pick up one of the trades.

Marvel's weekly book 5 Ronin #1 starts this Wednesday. Set in 17th century Japan, each book thrusts one of five heroes (Wolverine, Psylocke, Punisher, Hulk, and Deadpool) into a violent land during tumultuous times. This week, writer Peter Milligan and artist Tomm Coker bring you Wolverine, a Ronin out for revenge against those that have wronged him more times than he can remember. This invincible warrior is sure to settle the score in an epic clash of steel and superpowers.

Grant Morrison's Joe the Barbarian #8 is finally here! Join Joe and his allies as they enter the battlefield for the final showdown against Death itself. Sacrifices must be made in this amazing conclusion to one of the most talked about miniseries in comics this past year.

Fans of Malachai and Ethan Nicolle's Axe Cop are in for a treat this week with the launch of the new Dark Horse miniseries, Axe Cop: Bad Guy Earth #1! The police (you know, the real ones) have finally noticed Axe Cop and his partner Dinosaur Soldier, but they are not happy that our amazing duo is doing the police's job better. Axe Cop and Dinosaur Soldier are hunted as criminals, and pair of actual alien villains make there appearance and turn the army into actual bad guys. Can the police handle this on their own? Nope.

They're back! Writer Frank Marraffino and artist Fernando Bianco bring you Marvel Zombies: Supreme #1. The twisted science of Project Pegasus has infected the Squadron Supreme with a virulent zombie strain. Now, Jill Harper and her spec ops team have to keep the plague contained within the facility. As they fight for their lives, Harper discovers the Squadron were not the only test subjects, and this discovery may end up being the key to saving the human race.

The Tru Blood supply has been contaminated, and the Southern Vampire population is going crazy. Sookie's world is out of control. This trouble isn't going to help the tension between the humans and vampires, but who is behind the bad 'Blood? For those looking to catch up, True Blood HC Vol. 01 is already out!

After the shocking conclusion of the last issue, Fantastic Four #588, epilogue to Three, spends a month with the FF, extended family, heroes, and villains reacting to and mourning the death of the Human Torch. Spider-Man also guest starts in a back-up story. This is the final issue before the launch of the all new FF (Future Foundation) #1.

The second printing of Age of X: Alpha #1 hits shelves this week and just in time! X-Men Legacy #245 continues the story of this dystopian world where the X-Men never existed and only a few mutants remain, but who are they? New Mutants #22 follows these last surviving mutants trying to stay alive in their stronghold, but when a conspiracy threatens them from the inside, all hope for them may be lost. Fans should also keep an eye out this week for Astonishing X-Men #36, X-Men #8, and Uncanny X-Men #533.

There is a new Venom in town, but he isn't the bad guy you may be used to. A new man wears the symbiote suit, and he is showing up Spider-Man in the hero department. Also, who will Spider-Man turn to in his moment of need?

Based on DC's new hit cartoon show, Young Justice #1 follows the adventures of some of the biggest heroes' sidekicks. Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, Aqualad and more star in this action packed book for all ages. Superboy and Miss Martian are moving in to Young Justice headquarters, but strange visions of Superboy's past are out to ruin the day.

With Black Panther taking care of Hell's Kitchen, Matt Murdock has left behind the hero that he once was. Or has he? In Daredevil Reborn #2, Matt has come across a corrupt city in the New Mexico desert becoming worse day by day. You can take the hero out of Hell's Kitchen, but you can't take the Daredevil out of Mr. Murdock.

Garth Ennis' Jennifer Blood #1 is out this week and follows the story of a suburban, house mother turned night time vigilante. She may seem normal, making breakfast, taking kids to school, keeping the house in order, but after dinner and the kids and husband are asleep, she becomes a suburban punisher. Fans Ennis and Marvel's Punisher are sure to enjoy this book. Also by Ennis, Boys #51 is also out this week.

The Death of Spider-Man Begins this Wednesday, February 9

The Marvel Ultimate Universe event to change it all, "Death of Spider-Man," kicks off this week in Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates #1 by Mark Millar and Leinil Yu. Carold Danver's Avengers team of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and Hawkeye face off against Nick Fury's covert New Ultimates team that will do anything to get the job done, and someone is going to pay the price in this no holds barred face off. The "DOSM" event draws closer in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #153 by Brian Bendis with art by Sara Pichelli and David Lafuente. Iron Man has taken Spider-Man under his tutelage as the Ultimate Avengers attempt to give him so real super hero training. Also out this week, don't miss Ultimate Comics Captain America #2 by Jason Arron and Ron Garney.

"Flaspoint," DC's big Flash-focused event of the year, is rushing closer and closer with the release of Geoff Johns' The Flash #9. Fresh out of the Speed Force, Hot Pursuit is set on patrolling speedsters good and evil alike. And everyone is left wondering just who is under that helmet anyways?

Marvel.1 continues this week in Wolverine #5.1 by Jason Aaron and art by Jefte Palo. In this kick-start issue for new readers, Wolverine's girlfriend throws him a surprise party and invites the X-Men and Avengers to celebrate the special day, which happens to be one of Logan's least favorite. More than likely, this birthday will not change his mind; blood never goes well with cake. Also out this week, Wolverine #1000, collects a series of stories taking Wolverine from Hell to WWII to the bayou and even the Mojoverse.

Fan-favorite series Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman comes out with issue 81 this week, continuing the gripping "No Way Out" storyline. For the newcomers, Walking Dead Weekly #6 will also be on shelves.

Fables fans can not get enough of this secret-agent, so here she is: Cinderella, Fables Are Forever #1 by Chris Roberson and Shawn McManus. While the Magic the Gathering Pre-release is coming up this weekend, the next weekend is a HUGE weekend for games. Magic: the Gathering, Yu Gi Oh, UFS CCG, and Ascension Deckbuilding Game all have special events lined up for the weekend of Febuary 5th!

On Febuary 5th we have both the Magic: the Gathering release tournament, the Yu Gi Oh pre-release event for the Storm of Ragnarok set, and the pre-release tournament for UFS CCG's Red Horizon!

Magic: the Gathering registration is from Sunday through Saturday ($24.99) and the tournament will begin at 1:00 on Feb 5th.

(Just Announced!) The UFS CCG has experienced a resurrection with the upcoming Red Horizon expansion. The pre-release is a sealed tournament ($TBD.) This pre-release is the first in a hopefully long run for the newly resurrected card game!

Based on Sony's hit online game, DC Universe Online: Legends #1, written by legendary Marv Wolfman and favorite Tony Bedard, hits shelves this week. Lex Luthor is defined by his obsession with destroying the Man of Steel, but this time he has gone to far. Lex has made a deal with Braniac that may have doomed the entire human race. This ultimate tale of good versus evil will unfold as a biweekly series and is sure to be a great read for long time DC fans and fans of the MMO.

Kicking off Marvel.1, Invincible Iron Man #500.1 is the perfect jumping on point for anyone interested in getting on board fan-favorites Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca's amazing run. Tony Stark is taking a step into the future, and this Armored Avenger will soar to never before seen heights but not alone. Make sure to check out the Iron Man of the 21st Century!

The Merc With the Mouth is mourning the lose of his best friend Cable. In Deadpool and Cable #26, Deadpool decides that the perfect way to honor his pal is to establish a Cable museum, amusement park, and TV show in their old stomping ground, Rumekistan. However, things aren't like they used to be in this fictional European land, and Deadpool's appearance is only making things worse.

For the first time in 20 years, Paul Levitz and Keith Giffen reunite on Legion of Super Heroes Annual #1 as they bring the new and deadly Emerald Empress up against the super team of the 31st century. The Legion is not prepared for this incredibly powerful foe, and they pay the price. One of the Legion will never be the same after this.

Bat-fans have some great books this week with the release of Batman Beyond #2, Batman Odyssey #6, Batman Confiddential #53, Gotham City Sirens #19, and Batman: The Return of Bruce Warne Deluxe Edition HC (collecting the six-issue miniseries).

Fans of Superman should be an eye out for the Superman 80 Page Giant, 2011. This book has seven new stories about Superman and his friends by some of the industry's up-and-coming talent. Jeff Lemire's Superboy #4 is also out this week, continuing the tales of the strange in Smallville. The final chapter of the "New Krypton" storyline is collected in Superman: War of the Supermen HC, containing issues 0-4 and a page from Superman #700.

Jeff Lemire's Sweet Tooth continues this week with issue #18. The crew sets out sets out for the long journey to the North in search of answers, but can they hold together long enough to even get started? This stand-alone issue is presented in a horizontal storytelling format. If you have never read this series, give yourself a treat and check out the first collected volume of the series.

It's time to celebrate the Ol' Shell-head's anniversary with the release of Invincible Iron Man #500! In this giant-sized issue, the series' award winning team, Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca, jump the series seventy years into the future as three generations of the Stark family face their biggest foe yet. While in the present, Spider-Man and Iron Man attempt to fill in the blanks of Tony's missing memories, and so much more. The future starts now for Iron Man!

Speaking of our favorite web-head, Amazing Spider-Man #652 marks the beginning of the "Revenge of the Spider-Slayer" story-line. After the return of the Hobgoblin in "Big Time," more of Spidey's rogues gallery is stepping out; Alistair Smythe, The Spider-Slayer, is back and has brought a slew of upgraded baddies, including Mac Gargan back as The Scorpian, to ruin Spider-Man's day, and everyone Parker knows is in danger.

Season eight of Joss Whedon's Buff the Vampire Slayer draws to a close with issue 40 this week. Buffy has traveled a long road home, but all is not safe just yet. Betrayal and loss faces the Scooby gang, and they will never be the same again.

Based on the hit video game series, Mass Effect Evolution #1 is a new story by Mass Effect 2's lead writer Mac Walters and John Jackson Miller revealing humanities first days of conflict on the galactic stage. Also, find out The Illusive Man's pivotal role in the whole thing. Fans of the series shouldn't miss this essential piece of cannon presented here for the first time! Store is Open and New Comics Are Here!

Hello All!

After a couple of days trapped...uh... relaxing behind a mound of snow, Dr. No's is open to serve your comic and game needs. We have received our shipment of new releases for the week, and they're on the shelves waiting for you! (Only two and a half hours late, which we're pretty proud of, considering the weather--we owe a debt of gratitude to Barry, Tommy, and everyone at FedEx Freight in Conley, GA, who made it possible for us to have the books today, in spite of inclement weather.. these guys went above and beyond, and they had everything ready for us to pick up when we got there this morning!)

Due to deteriorating road conditions after dark, we will be closing Wednesday, January 12th, at 6pm. We do anticipate resuming regular 11am-8pm hours beginning Thursday, January 13th, and we still hope to have our normal Friday night YuGiOh tournament.

Please be careful when you get on the roads. There are still many frozen patches, and all that water on the roadways is going to refreeze once the sun drops lower. We all love comics, but they'll be here waiting for you when conditions improve!

Everything's Still On Ice...

Due to weather conditions, we are not able to open the store this morning; we will evaluate road conditions later today to determine if we might be able to open at all this afternoon. We are hopeful that conditions will improve enough for our comics delivery to get through sometime on Wednesday, and we are optimistic that we will be able to open on Wednesday for new comics sales.

As of right now, Diamond has not been able to get any comic book shipments into metro Atlanta; both FedEx and UPS are still holding books in Memphis and will not dispatch them to this area until road conditions improve enough that they can resume normal operations at their freight hubs. We are monitoring the status of both operations and will pick up our comics as soon as they make it into the metro area, but there's no word on whether FedEx and/or UPS will begin moving shipments later today, sometime on Wednesday, or perhaps even later.

Keep checking with us here for the latest info! We appreciate your understanding and patience during this weather situation, and we all look forward to resuming our normal schedule as soon as possible!

Chilling Out

The unprecedented snow and ice of Sunday night and Monday morning continues to make its presence known, and at this time (11:30pm Monday night), it's hard to say what tomorrow might bring. Currently, forecasts call for the roads to be as bad tomorrow as they were today; as a result, it's possible that Dr. No's will open late and close early tomorrow--and there's still a chance that the store will remain closed for a second day if there's not enough road clearing to make it safe for staff to get to the store.

Diamond has also informed us that the books will be delayed--just how much we can't say, but this is beyond anyone's control since neither FedEx Freight or UPS moved any shipments into the metro Atlanta area today. Until the FedEx Freight center can open and handle incoming shipments (they were closed today), Diamond can't get comics into Georgia for any of the metro Atlanta stores to process--and that includes your friendly neighborhood comics retailers at Dr. No's! We're touching base with Diamond and with FedEx several times during the day to get the latest word, and as soon as we can get our books, we will, of course.

We'll continue to post here and on Facebook as we know what's going on, so stay in touch with us for the latest information--and thanks for your patience in this meteorologically challenging time!

Due to Sunday evening's unprecedented snowfall, Dr. No's will be closed on Monday, January 10th. As much as we'd like to be able to help you find just the comics and games that you're looking for, we'd also like to know that our staff and customers aren't risking life and limb to get to the store.

We are certainly optimistic that we will be able to open on Tuesday, January 11th, even if we have to open slightly late to allow for road clearing. Please check back here at www.drnos.com tomorrow evening or Tuesday morning for updates.

We also are not sure at this point if the weather will delay the arrival of this week's comic book shipment. The truck bringing our books has to drive through a couple of hundred miles of this snow and ice, so it is possible that books will be late. Again, we will update you here at www.drnos.com just as soon as we know what's going on, and we will make every effort to get the books to you as soon as possible.

Debuting in June 1992, Spawn helped put Image on the map and has remained a fan favorite over the years. Seventeen years later, Spawn #200 is hitting shelves. Jim Downing is the new Spawn and has teamed up with an unlikely ally, Clown. Together they will face one of the biggest enemies in the Spawn universe. This double-sized issue ships with seven different covers from industry leading artists: Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Greg Capullo, David Finch, Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri and Ashley Wood. This also marks the long awaited return of McFarlane and Capullo to interior artwork.

Bat fans can look forward to Batman and Robin #19 this week. The final part of Paul Cornell's The Sum of Her Parts storyline is here. The Absence has been located, but Batman and Robin may be walking into a trap. Batgirl #17 and Birds of Prey #8 will also be on shelves, so make sure not to miss these two wonderful books.

The hunt for Maxwell Lord continues in Justice League: Generation Lost #17, also out this week.

Matt Fraction's amazing series Casanova continues its full-color return to comics in volume two of the series, Casanova: Gula #1

Celebrate the New Year with some great comics on January, 5th!

After the success of last year's mini-series, Batman Beyond is back in the first of issue of the new ongoing series written by Adam Beechen with art by Ryan Benjamin and John Stanisci. Terry McGinnis and Bruce Wayne return in this series set in the DCU's future, and they are stronger than ever after their encounter with Hush almost bringing their alliance to a an end. However, their newest super-powered baddie won't give them a break and even has the Justice League coming to Neo-Gotham to hunt him down.

From the hit creative team of Jason Aaron (writer) and Ron Garney (artist) comes the newest title in Marvel's Ultimate universe, Ultimate Comics Captain America #1. This new mini-series pits Captain America against Captain America! Yes, you read that right; Captain America is going up against one of his strongest opponents yet, Captain America of the Vietnam War. As these two face off, see what sacrifices one man makes to serve his country and learn secrets from the super soldier program never before revealed.

DC has two one-shots this week focusing on some of your favorite characters. Steel #1 is written by Dr. Who novelist Steve Lyons with artist Sean Chen and focuses on John Henry Irons, the man turned man of steel. This story reveals the determination of Irons that keeps him going through thick and thin and keeps him between Metallo and the destruction of Metropolis. Starman/Congorilla #1 is written by regular Justice League of America writer James Robinson with art by Brett Booth. Starman and Congorilla join forces to discover the secrets behind the Omega Man's dark energy that encases Washington D.C. in this tie-in to the JLA Omega storyline. Their search will take them on a quest to find the Fountain of Youth while running into other DCU heroes and outwitting terrorist assiassins from Gorilla City!

Fun reads for Wednesday, December 22!

Arriving just in time for Christmas, the DC universe's own Grinch, Larfleeze, is getting his very own book! The Green Lantern: Larfleeze Christmas Special, written by Geoff Johns with art by Brett Booth, follows Larfleeze on his quest to get exactly want he wants for Christmas (besides everything!): Santa Claus. Nothing, not even the DCU's greatest super heroes, can stop him from getting what he wants. There will be even more shenanigans this holiday season as the rest of the Orange Lantern Corps gets up to no good.

Felicia Day is back this week to bring the first of five The Guild one-shots spotlighting the Knights of Good. Jeff Lewis, Vork himself, is sharing writing duties on The Guild: Vork with art by Darick Robertson. Vork has devoted his gaming life to the pursuit of all things good to the point that he is nicknamed 'Goody-Two Greaves' in the game world. However, there is more to Vork than the rest of the guild actually knows. This laugh out loud one-shot gives us a look at the man behind the rule book. Also, the first volume of Day's previous The Guild series is currently available in trade paperback.

Shadowland is over, and Daredevil's abscence fas left a hole in the heart of Hell's Kitchen. In Shadowland: After The Fall by Antony Johnston, find out if the people of Hell's Kitchen can get back to their lives and rebuild their broken city without their fearless champion to guide them. This book sets the future for Marvel's street heroes. Get Amped For New Comics, Wednesday, December 15

Spider-Man goes through costumes like the Hulk goes through purple pants, and his newest one premiers this week in Amazing Spider-Man #650. There is a new Hobgoblin in town, and he's brought an amped-up arsenal to the table. This is going to take an new amped-up Spidey, and he has the suit just for the occasion. But the fun does not stop there. MACH 5 from Thunderbolts is up against one of the web-heads deadliest foes, and the Black Cat is on her own secret side mission while this all goes on. Oh yea, there's also an 8-page back up story filling us in on what the new goblin was doing before his return.

In the aftermath of Shadowland, Hell's Kitchen has been left without its long-time protector Daredevil, but a new hero has accepted the challenge. Best-selling author David Liss and artist Francesco Francavilla bring us Black Panther, Man Without Fear #513 with T'Challa stepping in as defender of the city. Without his kingdom, vibranium, and a high-tech safety net, Black Panther will need to rely on his instincts and bloody knuckles as he makes his new life and identity in a city being overrun with bad guys. A new hero means a new nemesis, and Vlad the Impaler aims to be just that as he plans his brutal rise to power.

John Ostrande and Jan Duursema's Star Wars: Legacy is set nearly 125 years after Return of the Jedi starring Cade Skywalker, decedent of everyone' favorite Jedi, Luke Skywalker. Having recently wrapped up a 50-issue run (now available in ten great trades), the series returns with Star Wars: Legacy War #1. Presumed dead, Darth Krayt has returned stronger and even more evil than before. His goal: destroy the galaxy. It is going to take Cade and everyone else willing to help stand against Krayt, but all of the Jedi, Galactic Alliance, and the emperor's Imperials may not even be enough.

New Comics for Wednesday, December 8

It is that time of the year again. People are bustling around looking for the perfect gift for their special someone and celebrating in their own way! The heroes in the comics are no different... except for the whole super powers and super villains thing. This week, the DCU Holiday Special 2010 celebrates the winter holidays by focusing on the celebrations from Anthro at the dawn of time to the Legion of Super-Heroes in the far far future. Along with those two, the book has stories starring Superman, The Spectre, Jonah Hex, and Green Lantern John Stewart. There is something for every DCU fan in this book. D.E.'s Project Superpowers Christmas Special is also out and features the Fighting Yank, the Ghost, and the American Spirit up against the Clown and his plan that's guaranteed to throw a wrench in Christmas.

This is it, Vertigo's Fables has hit its 100th issue, and it is going to be huge! This 100-page special sees the Fables getting ready to return to Fabletown, but before anything happens, Mister Dark must be dealt with once and for all. The final confrontation promises to be epic. Also in this issue, Mark Buckingham contributes a special prose story with illustrations by Bill Willingham. Buckingham also offers up a special puppet theater. And that's not all! A quick reminder to all of you out there still recovering from the holiday feasts. Comics will go on sale this Thursday, December 2nd, due to the holidays, but we'll have books ready to go the minute we open the doors on Thursday morning!

He's the best there is at what he does, so the new book by writer Charlie Huston and artist Juan Jose Ryp, Wolverine: Best There Is, is aptly named. In his new series, Wolverine is up against a enemy like none he's had before. Usually, our Canadian friend solves all of his problems with the liberal use of his claws, but that may not be the best option when he goes up against Contagion. What happens when Wolverine battles someone who is actually far worse when dead? Find out this week!

For those of you just getting caught up on the Blackest Night storyline through those wonderful hardcovers, the new Brightest Day HC Vol. 01 collect issues 0-7 and will get you started on the next leg of the journey. Follow the story of the twelve heroes and villains resurrected in Blackest Night and find out what the mysterious with light has in store for them. Brightest Day #15 also hits the shelves this week.

Don't miss the exciting conclusion to Shadowland with the release of issue 5. Fans of The Walking Dead get an early treat this week. The Walking Dead TP Vol. 13 comes out this Tuesday, a whole day before all those other books, which isn't too bad for zombies. The trade collects issues 73-78. If that isn't enough, The Walking Dead #79 comes out on Wednesday! This offers new fans the chance to finally get caught up to the most recent storyline of this amazing book.
Hot on the heels of Stan Lee's first series with BOOM! Studios, Soldier Zero, Stan Lee's The Traveler #1 marks the start of his newest series with fan-favorite writer Mark Waid and artist Chad Hardin. Follow the time-bending adventures of the mysterious hero known as The Traveler as he moves through time fighting the forces of evil in hopes of saving the past, present, and future! This Lee and Waid team-up is a book any fan of superhero comics will want to check out.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Ultimate Marvel universe, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man's numbering goes back to its roots this week as issue #150 hits the shelves. Our ultimate wall crawler has not had an easy time of it, especially lately, and his life is in ruin. Spinning out of Amazing Spider-Man's Grim Hunt story-arc, a new Spider-Girl takes the stage in the first issue of her new ongoing series by writer Paul Tobin with art by Clayton Henry. Anya Corazon has finally filled the shoes everyone but her thought she was ready for and now she just has to balance her teenage life with the rough and tumble life of a Spider-Family member. Also, this issue guest stars Marvel's first family, The Fantastic Four as Spider-Girl goes up against impossible odds.

The Chaos War rages on in the Marvel Universe, and even the dead are getting involved in Chaos War: Dead Avengers #1. The Vision, Captain Mar-Vell, Yallowjacket, Deathcry, Swordsman, and Dr. Druid find themselves returned to life to assemble against one of the Avenger's greatest foes and the Chaos King's most fearsome ally. For some, this will be the chance at redemption or a second life, but all of them will prove they are worthy of being called Avengers.

The classic T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents (published in the 1960s by the great Tower Comics, and now a part of the DCU) returns this week with a new first issue and a new batch of recruits. A group of people are given a choice: remain normal or accept super powers and save the world . . . but there's just one catch. The powers will kill them. Writer Nick Spencer of Morning Glories fame and artist CAFU bring you this new edition of a wonderful classic. Watch as the Agents make some of the toughest choices and defend the DCU from threats other heroes didn't even know existed!

The end of the beginning is finally here as Grant Morrison's sixth and final issue of Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne hits shelves this week. Batman is at the final leg of his journey through time, but there may still be some twists left for our returning Dark Knight. Don't miss this issue as it sets the future of the Batman universe.

This week, the battle that was so big it couldn't fit in a standard size issue is finally reprinted in two wonderful hardcovers. Superman vs Muhammad Ali brought together two of the biggest icons of the time to defend the Earth against the Srcubb alien race, but before they team up, Superman, temporarily without powers, must step in the ring with Muhammad Ali to see who is the true guardian of Earth. The Deluxe HC edition collects the original story in a more traditional size format with a new cover by fan favorite Neal Adams, while the Facsimile Edition HC presents the classic story in it original size of approximately 10' high and 13.25' wide.

A lot has changed in Hulk's world with all of the other Hulks now running around. And She-Hulk isn't the only one in town either. In She-Hulks #1, the original She-Hulk Jen Walters teams up with Lyra, the Sensational She-Hulk, to stop the remaining members of The Intelligencia. After their failed attempt to take over the world, the She-Hulks are going to make them pay with a little help from guest star The Incredible Hulk.

Fans of fantasy and the popular Dungeons & Dragons should keep their eye out for the new comic out this week from IDW. Follow the hero Adric Fell as he leads a band of heroes in a world where civilization has been reduced to a few scattered points of light amid a rising tide of shadows. A variant edition of Dungeons & Dragons #1 is also available with a playable module unique to this issue!

Attention Browncoasts! Keep your eyes out for the newest story in the Serenity universe: Serenity: Shepherd's Tale. Who was he before meeting Serenity's crew and how did he find God in a bowl of soup? Book's past is finally revealed in this action packed chapter of the Serenity saga.

Also out this week is the Absolute All-Star Superman HC by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. This wonderful story brings to mind the Superman comics of the Silver Age as the Man of Steel battles several of his iconic villains before facing Lex Luthor's final revenge. Besides their amazing presentation, Absolute editions are well known for their bonus material, such as the sketchbook and more in the Absolute All-Star Superman.

Grant Morrison's run as writer for Batman and Robin comes to an end this week with issue sixteen. The final showdown between Batman and Black Glove is here. And Batman is looking for payback. Don't worry, the Joker and Professor Pyg will also be there. This will take readers into The Return of Bruce Wayne and the new status quo for Batman.

The top 2 finishers with Mirran-affiliated decks receive a Peace Strider preview card from Mirrodin Besieged, and the top 2 finishers with Phyrexia-affiliated decks receive a Pierce Strider preview card! This is in addition to any prize cards you might win for their overall event finish.

What Does an "Affliated Deck" Mean?

All cards in Scars of Mirrodin are watermarked with either a Mirran or Phyrexian symbol to represent the card’s affiliation. This week marks the start of DC's original Earth One graphic novel series from some of the industries top creators. The series will present dramatic retellings of DC's legendary heroes set in current times and a world that has had no heroes before now. First up is J. Michael Straczynski's Superman: Earth One HC with art by Shane Davis and Sandra Hope. This original story asks the question: what would Superman's origin be like if it was introduced today for the first time? The basics are the same, but times have changed. With this all-new origin comes an all new villain. How will Earth's newest hero fair against this deadly alien threat? Find out this Wednesday!

Death is back, and I'm not talking about Nekron. Neil Gaiman's Death from the hit Sandman series is making an appearance in Action Comics #894 this week. After the events of last issue, Lex Luthor finds himself at Death's door. Go on a journey with her as she delves deep into the mind of one of the world's greatest villains, and in the process, learn how Death fits into the DC Universe.

Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips have brought readers some of the best in noir comics like Sleeper, Criminal, and Incognito. And this week, they continue that tradition with Incognito: Bad Influences #1, the second chapter in the smash hit super hero noir series. Zack Overkill is back, and he is going deeper into the criminal underworld than ever before. Will he be able to get out without being sucked back into a life he already escaped? Subject-ive Commentary

Good friend (and one-time Dr. No's team member) Jim Moore passed along a galley of his upcoming young adult suspense-thriller Subject Seven, and I just got a chance to read through it. I try to avoid hurting friends' feelings, so I don't write about books I didn't enjoy.

I'm writing about Subject Seven.

The book follows a group of teens who are the results of a program to create genetically engineered sleeper assassins. The plans are simple: keep trying until the program is perfected, destroy the failed experiments.

Then things go wrong. Subject Seven escapes... and in doing so, reveals that he possesses the very skills they've been hoping to instill in their subjects. He's so good, in fact, that even though he's only ten years old, he's able to best his captors and disappear from the program.

Jump ahead five years, and a seemingly unrelated group of teenagers comes together at the behest of a mysterious caller. Once they assemble, they learn that each of them is a failed experiment, and those responsible for their existence want them dead. But that's not as easy as it sounds...

Subject Seven is a fast-paced young adult novel, filled with insightful glimpses into the lives of teenagers who feel that they don't quite fit in. That's normal, of course--and it's the commonality of that makes this such a strong young adult novel. Every teen feels like there's something different about him or her--but in the case of Hunter, Cody, Gene, Tina, and Kyle, there's a good reason to feel that way. The novel takes the commonality of the adolescent experience and uses it as a launching point for a compelling adventure novel that's the kickoff of a potential series.

Moore's writing is taut, lean, and fast-paced. The prose is vivid and energetic, and the storytelling is sufficiently strong to propel the reader through its 300+ pages. As is the case with many young adult novels nowadays, Subject Seven leaves the door wide open for a sequel; hope that we don't have to wait too long! I'm eager to hear more about the true purpose of the program and how Seven and his teen comrades-in-arms find a place for themselves in a world that seems to want them dead and gone.

Look for it in a Razorbill paperback edition in January.

Go Batty for Comics on 10/13

Bat fans, this is the week for you. At long last, Bruce Wayne continues his journey back to the DCU in Batman: Return of Bruce Wayne #5, with art by Ryan Sook! Bruce is transported to Gotham City's gritty past as a private detective searching for his way home. This is the penultimate issue leading to Bruce's return to present time, but how will his return affect the rest of the Bat Family? Batgiril, Batman & Robin, Outsiders, and Red Robin each have their own problems to handle in these four Bruce Wayne: The Road Home one-shots.

Speaking of returns, zombies are popping their heads outta the graves this week. You were hungry for more of the Blackest Night, and DC doesn't aim to disappoint. Find out more of the story in Untold Tales of Blackest Night. This stand alone issue will deal with some of the darkest stories never revealed in DC's blockbuster event. Don't miss it.

If super zombies aren't your thing, Kirkman's zombie epic Walking Dead continues in the sixth over-sized hardcover for the series. These wonderful hardcovers are great for fans both old and new; each book collects twelve issues and their covers and includes bonus material not seen in the regular issues and trades. Also this week, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are back on their most frightful case in the Victorian Undead Special. They thought the zombie menace was gone, but a series of murders seems to say differently. But what does Dr. Jekyll have to do with it this time? Those are enough undead books to shake a shotgun at!

After bringing us the average boy turned hero in Kick-Ass and the world's worst villain in Nemesis, Millar is back this week with artist Leinil Francis Yu for his all-new super hero series, Superior. See how the hero Superior changes the life of former star-student Simon Pooni after he develops multiple sclerosis. In the making for nine-years, Millar claims this is the "nicest" hero book he could write, so if the darker tones of his previous kept you away, give Superior a try.

Strong start for comics in October this week 10/06

Wolverine keeps it coming this week as he leads his secret team of mutants in the first issue of Uncanny X-Force! Cyclops disbanded the last X-Force team, but with the return of Apocalypse, Wolverine and Archangel have to reform the group with several of the most deadly mutants around: Deadpool, Psylocke, and Fantomex. This team will get the job done no matter the cost. Make sure to give this action packed title a try.

While Bruce Wayne is still missing, the long lost Batman and Solomon Grundy story by Bernie Wrightson is finally found. Written by Ron Marz, Batman: Hidden Treasures presents full-page Wrightson illustrations inked by Kevin Nowian on every page. This issue also collects Wrightson and Len Wein's classic "Night of the Bat!" See how only Wrightson could depict the Dark Knight.

Hercules is finally back this week in Chaos War #1, but even with his new powers, can he and the other heroes stand against the Chaos King? Since the Secret Invasion, the Chaos King has amassed his army of alien gods while he waited for the perfect chance to attack Earth. The time is now, and the war to rival Annihilation begins here.

Great comics for September 29, 2010

The search for Bruce Wayne continues this week as we travel through time with Superman, Green Lantern, Booster Gold, and Rip Hunter in Time Masters: Vanishing Point #3. Time is running out as they continue to follow Wayne's footsteps through time, so Rip is forced to turn to some unlikely allies, the Linear Men. If you have been patiently waiting for the latest Batman: Return of Bruce Wayne, Time Masters is a great companion series that further explores the times and places Bruce has visited on his journey.

With the new direction of Thor that started last week, Marvel brings us Valkyrie #1. Brunnhilde died in battle as Loki destroyed Asgard during Ragnarok, but why and how has she returned to this heroic age take on the role of a Secret Avenger? Valkyrie also marks the Marvel writing debut of Bryan J.L. Glass, best known for The Mice Templar.

This final week in September marks the end of the fascinating and underrated Heroic Age: One Month to Live. Dennis Sykes was given super powers in an accident, but unfortunately, the very same accident that gave him his amazing powers has accelerated his cancer. This blessing and curse has led to him joining forces with Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and Avengers, but having already saved the world, what will Fusion, Sykes' super hero identity, do in his final moments? Find out what makes a hero in One Month to Live #5.
